How do I export target samples as bookmarks?

You’ve got your project all set up and you’ve started the first audit, now you’re ready to jump into testing. Wouldn’t it be extra handy to be able to export all your target samples as bookmarks you can import into your favorite browser (like Polypane)?

There are a few places you can export all target samples, and two formatting options to choose from. Let’s run through the options.

Places to Download Target Samples

All three places noted below perform the same download action, added in multiple places for visibility and convenience.

View Project

From your dashboard, you’ll see a collection of all your projects. Inside each project’s detail is a button called “View”, clicking this button takes you to the View Project page where it outlines all the settings you’ve entered for the project.

Scroll down to Step 3, where all target samples are listed. At the top of this section you’ll see links to download as JSON or HTML.

Audit Editor

When performing your audit in the editor view, at the top of the page are a series of links related to the audit and it’s project. At the bottom of those links is a headline “Download Target Samples” with buttons to choose from JSON or HTML.

Report (and Report Preview)

When viewing an audit report, or previewing an unfinished audit report, there are several export options inside the Export sub-section at the top of the page. The second option in this section are links to “Download Target Samples as JSON” or “HTML”.

Formatting Options

HTML

The HTML output is formatted to match that of the standard bookmarks export from browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It can be used to import all target samples back into one of these browsers for easier reference.

JSON

A simplified version for any other potential use case, will export an array of objects with “url” and “title” properties for each target sample.
