How do I bulk add target samples to my project?

Chances are, when you’re ready to start a new accessibility audit project, that you’ve likely already compiled a list of target samples to test.

To save some time having to define them individually, you have two options:

  1. Bulk add – Paste that existing list of pages and names (even from a spreadsheet!) right into the bulk add field of your project’s target sample section
  2. Import from file – Supported formats include JSON, TXT, or HTML files.
    • JSON – We’re expecting an array of objects with “url” and “title” properties, for example your exported bookmarks from another application like Polypane.
    • HTML – We’re expecting a standard browser bookmark export format, like something you’d find from Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
    • TXT – We’re expecting one entry per line, with optional short name separated by comma, tab, or 3+ spaces

That’s it, Be Inclusive takes care of the rest!

Bulk add

To bulk add the pages you’re going to audit, step through the project creation process until you get to step 3 where you select samples. On this page, there’s a “Bulk Add” button next to the “Add another” and “Import from file” buttons for both the Structured Sample Pages and the Random Sample Pages sections.

Step 3 of the project creation process called "Select Samples", screenshot of the first section titled "Structured Sample Pages" with two samples already defined. At bottom there's three buttons, "Add another", "Bulk Add", and "Import from File", "Bulk Add" is outlined with a green square to illustrate where it is on the page.

Click that button to open the “Bulk Add Web Addresses (URLs) or descriptions” textbox.

Step 3 of the project creation process called "Select Samples", screenshot of the first section titled "Structured Sample Pages" with two samples already defined. The "Bulk Add" button has been pressed opening a large textbox labelled "Bulk Add Web Addresses (URLs) or descriptions". This textbox is outlined with a green box to highlight its location.

In that box, you can paste in a list of URLs (or other sample descriptions), and optionally an accompanying short name separated by comma, tab, or 3+ spaces. One entry per line.

For example, any of the following would work:

  • https://www.example.com/about About Page
  • https://www.example.com/contact, Contact Page
  • Checkout screen

When you’re done adding them all, click the “Add” button. The textbox will go away and will be replaced with a new sample created for every line you added. Alternatively, if you decide against using bulk add, you can click the “Cancel” button to close the bulk add textbox without applying them to your project.

Import from file

To import the pages you’re going to audit, step through the project creation process until you get to step 3 where you select samples. On this page, there’s a “Import from file” button next to the “Add another” and “Bulk add” buttons for both the Structured Sample Pages and the Random Sample Pages sections.

The "Import from File" button has been pressed opening a file input field labelled "Import Web Addresses (URLs) or descriptions from File". This field is outlined with a green box to highlight its location.

Click “Choose file” to navigate to the JSON, HTML, or TXT file you’re looking to import and then click Open. The file explorer will go away and will be replaced with a new sample created for every target samle found in the file. Alternatively, if you decide against using Import from file, you can click the “Cancel” button to close the file selector without applying them to your project.
